I took two courses with Renee at CSU East Bay - Strategic Planning-Nonprofits & Nonprofit Consulting. I also meet 1on1 with Renee and she so kindly gave me advice on transitioning out of the nonprofit sector into consulting. Renee really embodies breing inclusive, listening and facilitating well. I also like that she brought a guest speaker into each class to give another perspective. I wish I had discovered these courses earlier, and I highly recommend everyone in the nonprofit space check out their courses as they are virtual, convenient (just 2-4 night sessions), cheap, and well taught! Thanks Renee!

Community Foundation of the Gunnison Valley was pleased to host Andy Robinson, Christal M. Cherry, and Dr. Renee Rubin Ross for an interactive webinar on thinking differently about nonprofit governance and structure. Our organization has heard from so many nonprofits in our community that the traditional model of organizing and running nonprofits doesn’t seem to be working for them, and thanks to Andy, Christal, and Renee, we now have a good answer that question! During the webinar, they provided helpful historical context on how the traditional nonprofit governance model came about as well as concrete examples of several ways of rethinking it. The intriguing presentation and open discussion they encouraged really got the audience thinking about the issues they encounter every day and how they could apply the examples to their situation. Most importantly, the information was presented in a way that was relevant for people at all levels within nonprofit organizations – executives, board members, staff, and even volunteers. We recognize that this conversation is likely happening all over the country, and we highly recommend tapping Andy, Christal, and Renee to catalyze the conversation in your community!

Renee led a very effective Board orientation session for Congregation Netivot Shalom that set up the group for success. Participants (myself included!) came out of it with a sharper focus on Board work and service, and it was good community-building time to boot. Renee is knowledgeable and organized - and very skilled in integrating presentation with group participation. She is great to work with and I highly recommend her.

Dr. Renee Rubin Ross is an excellent professor. Her Board Development and Governance course taught me so much important information that I will be able to use in my own consultant work. She connects so well with the students and the information she focuses on is so important.

Just completed Renee’s Board Development and Governance course at CSEB. Her rich lectures were balanced w/interactive learnings and complemented by an abundant list of additional information, posted weekly. Two fab guest speakers provided additional insight into DEI and fundraising strategy. Gained so much clarity from this one course already! Will return for more classes and turn to Dr. Rubin Ross’s collective when difficult/complex situations arise.

Renee worked with the board of the Kids' Co-Op on our strategic planning process. This work helped us to build alignment and clarify our priorities. She was organized, responsive and easy to work with. The ideas we generated during her facilitation continue to inspire and inform our current trajectory and significantly upped our game as a board. Grateful for Renee's work and hope we can work with her again one day!

Renee presented a board orientation for our organization that was very well received. She helped us connect with one another and deepen our understanding of board service. Board members appreciated the time together and felt it was a valuable use of their time. The orientation set us up well for the goals we're working towards in the coming year. We'd love to have her come back!
