Midway through the rainy winter of 2022/2023, we noticed water damage in our ADU entryway. I immediately called our insurance company (State Farm) to file a claim. After a few days, we had an adjuster come out and assess the damage and ultimately approve a claim for $4k. The extent of the visible damage was focused near the door, including hardwood flooring, drywall, casing, and the door itself. That amount seemed quite low but I went with it and called a few contractors to come out and take a look. Every single contractor said they would not work with the insurance company as they would not be willing to give an itemized quote as the State Farm requested. The last contractor I spoke with recommended I contact a public adjuster as he was almost certain there was more damage that was not visible. This was a completely new concept for me and I hesitated and decided to try to work with StateFarm to increase the amount. Needless to say, it was incredibly difficult to reach anyone on the phone at State Farm. After a week or so, I gave up and started looking for a public adjuster. George at SoCal Public Adjusters was the only person I connected with who was willing to work with a State Farm claim. He recommended I immediately have a StateFarm-approved restoration company come and assess the damage and potential mold issues. Sure enough, the water damage was far worse than we could see and mold was everywhere. As the restoration company started to demo all the areas affected by water, we could easily tell the damage far exceeded $4k. George calmly walked us through a detailed estimate to repair the damage. He reviewed our insurance policy and explained in detail what our coverage should include. Many of the line items of which we would have never thought to account for. George immediately went to work and connected with representative after representative from State Farm. State Farm acted as if we did not matter and that the amount would not increase. George was persistent and eventually the claim would get thrown over to 4 or 5 different "managers". It was clear he knew how to maneuver the insurance claim process and it was clear he knew more about our rights than the State Farm adjusters that were assigned to the claim. Although the process went on for nearly 7 months, George kept us updated regularly and with as much detail as we could ask for. He was open about the strategy and tactics he would use to make sure we were not ghosted by State Farm. In the end, our claim settled for more than 10x the original amount. We were able to repair/restore the damage beyond our satisfaction. I highly recommend speaking with SoCal Public Adjusters.

I can't believe there are such selfless, considerate and helpful people like George. I live in Northern California, overwhelmed with dealing with my insurance about the water damage and trying to find the right public adjuster to help me with my situation. I submitted a request on Yelp and George was super quick to call me back.
