I don't like to give negative reviews but we were not pleased with the end result. Our daughter chose a specific prompt to write about and we let her drive the process. She read us her essay as it developed and we were pleased with how it was going. However, as she headed into the third and final meeting, the essay had changed significantly after the second meeting. The consultants had recommended removing a key part of the story that meant a significant part of the prompt was no longer directly addressed. When I spoke with them they defended their position, and while they offered an additional sitting with her to change it, it would have been at the same price as their regular consulting fee. They also argued "we are English teachers". That's all well and good but with my background in writing training materials and videos used by over 10K people at a fortune 500, I know what clear, specific and concise writing looks like. Sharing the before and after essays with friends who also write, as well as college aged students, the consistent feedback was that the essay didn't make sense. This created a ton of unnecessary stress for our child who was already anxious over the application process. She wound up reviewing it with her own friends and ended up with an amazing essay on her own that managed to include the previously cut information and was a much better fit for the prompt.

Erin & Magan were amazing to work with. Working with both of them together gave us the best of both worlds because they each have different expertise. Erin kept my daughter organized and provided all of the details specific to the colleges she was applying to. Magan was beyond helpful to my daughter brainstorming essay topics when she had a mental block. She offered suggestions and helped her re-word her essays to sound more cohesive. Magan comes up with the most creative writing ideas.

We absolutely could not have completed this application process as efficiently as we did without their help. Hiring them was money well spent!

Erin and Magan were so very helpful during the whole process of applying to colleges for our son, we definitely would have struggled without them, and would probably still be working on it all. But shortly after his senior year started, the hard part was over and applying to the schools were done.
