After almost 30 years I am finally reviewing CNA. In 1994, my family and I had a devastating housefire. What CNA put us through to get the claim covered was nothing short of inhumane. They refused to pay for the removal of the severely damaged structural members, even though we had a replacement policy. They lawyer-ed up and deposed us, making every effort to erroneously prove we started it and get out of paying the claim. We had to hire our own attorney for $55,000 in current dollars and pay for our own structural engineer. They only way we prevailed was through binding arbitration, of which we had to pay half. All three structural engineer arbiters agreed that CNA was obliged to restore the house in "the condition prior to the occurrence." CNA lost but not without it becoming a major battle.

We were a young family with a six year old and a newborn. After the fire, all of our personal affects fit into 4 laundry baskets. We lived in 6 places in the first 3 weeks. What they put us through is something no one should ever have to endure!

Do not insure through them.
