This is the WORST company to try and get authorizations through. I have entered all the information OVER AND OVER again. I have memorized the automated responses and it doesn't matter what you say it just sends you wherever it wants. 800-447-7828 is the number for providers. Bcbs in particular is difficult but BCBS of Montana is the absolute worst. If your provider has to get authorizations through here you are never going to receive treatment, might as well order your own casket. The favorite line of the automated teller "transfer to live representative is not a valid option" but making you run circles in a hamster wheel is.

I would highly discourage anyone from doing business with Blue Cross of Montana. Very unprofessional customer service group that is unable to properly communicate. I was on the phone for over 5 hours with no resolution over an error Blue Cross made on my account 2 years ago. My account is setup with autopay and Blue Cross made an error on the withdraw amount 2 years ago and now are giving me 10 days to pay or my coverage will be canceled. Blue Cross is not willing to work with me on resolution. Blue Cross provides very poor customer service and with an incompetent group of people.

Blue Cross Blue Shield is far and away the worst company to deal with. They fail to provide details on the claims they send out, they fail to answer their phones at all, the online platforms to confirm EOB's are dysfunctional. They are the most pathetic excuse for an insurance company I have ever seen. Not one single avenue to discuss important matters with anyone.

NOTHING BUT TROUBLE. STAY AWAY. I'm trying to cancel after less than six months on their policy. I am not thrilled with this system at all. Consistently can't spell my wife's name right, ten minute long phone menus about lower back pain and a Medicare/BCBS prescription plan. Yeah, that's what I called to hear. Stay away from Blue Cross Blue Shield. They're are terrible, and if this truly is the best policy in Montana, then I might as well open my own agency and do better without even really trying.

If there were zero stars that would be my rating. Unfortunately, this company’s method of operation is to try to save money by denying care and then making the person and their providers fight for it. They would send documents to me telling me why things were denied, but the criteria I had to meet were all clearly documented in my medical records. They confirmed receipt of these, and acknowledged the information was in there but continued to deny. My physician even called and told them it was medically necessary and still it was denied. Anyone that’s ever gone through a severe medical event knows that having additional barriers to treatment, especially ones that are illogical and hypocritical, only succeeds in making you sicker. No economy or society ever flourished by denying healthcare; many have flourished when they support the health of their people. Had I not had the opportunity to switch insurances, I never would’ve had the tests that diagnosed my condition and helped me return to functioning. I heard they lost the contract for us retires as well as the state workers after only having it a year. If that’s true, kudos to the state for being so responsive and showing that you care about the health of your employees and the retirees still on the state health plan!

The worst customer experiences ever. Continually deny treatments that we pay for. Thousands of dollars a year and you can't get treatment prescribed and authorized by medical professionals. Useless company with useless employees. Why do we pay for coverage when we can't get treated? If any other businesses pulled this garbage they would be out of business.

I had a refund check from BCBS of Montana for $849.32. I was moving from Montana to Texas and the check had expired while establishing a new permanent address.
Once I received the check and tried to deposit it in my Montana Bank, I was told it had expired. So I called BCBS of Montana to reissue the check. I had the original check in my hand.
This is where it gets pathetic! BCBS of Montana gave me every excuse in the book not to reissue this expired check. “It was direct deposited”- absolutely no record. “It’s being reviewed”- why? It just expired?. “Wrong mailing address”-really? All your other info gets here? BASICALLY, BCBS OF MONTANA STOLE $849.32 FROM ME AND WON’T RETURN IT! Beware!!!

Worst experience I've ever had with an insurance company. Would not even cover a routine dental cleaning with my marketplace bought dental insurance. Would have been cheaper just to not have insurance and pay out of pocket. I regret every dollar I've ever sent them. Disgusting.
