If you are looking for a boat loan, skip AFCU. Their advertised rate is for short term even with Tier 1 credit. It took multiple days to get the approval. I was warned about this and tried it anyway. Learn from my mistakes. Highly do not recommend you trying to borrow money from them. Plenty of other great lenders in the area that care about your time.

Have been with AFCU since 1986 and have used them for car loans and mortgages. The last visit all employees were friendly, willing to help. They have take as much time as I need to solve a problem or give advise on matters.

April Penn - I called with a simple question and was transferred to April for help. April did not understand either (which was fine) but when I tried to explain what I needed, she did not listen to me and spoke over me. I asked if I could speak with someone else and was told no.

There was no line when I went in, and I was told to wait a couple minutes. Apparently they were training someone new. Other than that I had a very pleasant experience, everyone was welcoming and attentive. I accomplished what I wanted to do and even got a free bottle of water!

When myself and my 2 young adults were paid with a check from this credit union, our nightmare began. The checks were not printed in correct alignment compared to all other checks I have received in my 40+ years. So when we tried to deposit our checks via our mobile banking app, it was not able to read the checks. I tried 2 mobile banks. Neither worked. This left us with zero options but to drive from Tulsa, OK to Arkansas, and cash the checks at this branch. When we arrived, we needed to use the restroom. We were not allowed. Then the teller informed us it would be $5 to cash a check. THE CHECKS WERE ISSUED BY THIS CREDIT UNION! They should not be charging us anything to cash a check issues by their bank! The teller continued to debate me. Absolutely terrible service. I would not recommend this credit union to anyone.

EDIT: The response by the Credit Union to this review are not addressing the rude way the teller handled the situation. These checks are printed by YOUR BANK, they were not employer checks. Just simple checks printed by your credit union. So the misalignment is your fault. Furthermore, for checks issued BY YOUR BANK being cashed at your bank, for only $1200-1400, your teller made "profiles" for us. There was no reason to do that. You can see the funds and verified our identity, so there is ZERO reason for you to create profiles for us. Your teller told me that the $5 pays for her to create said profiles. That is not necessary considering the small amount of the check and us cashing it directly with your institution.
