Wawanesa General Insurance Company
I can’t say enough good things about Gina Moore! Throughout a long and difficult kitchen insurance claim — where we had to deal with Sentry Insurance and Safeco Insurance, who delayed, ignored, or mishandled our case — Gina stood out as a true professional.
She contacted us weekly, showed genuine care, and consistently followed up — always asking about our newborn son, making us feel valued as people, not just claim numbers. When Safeco even asked to coordinate with her but later ignored her, Gina never gave up on us. She stayed positive, encouraged us, and helped us navigate the process until we were finally able to return home.
Because of her outstanding service, I am now personally recommending Wawanesa to my friends and family. Gina’s professionalism and empathy made such a difference, and I want everyone to know this company truly cares about its clients. Thank you, Gina, for being the bright spot in this long, frustrating journey!

My experience with Wawanesa regarding the handling of my vehicle theft claim has been deeply disappointing and frustrating. My vehicle was stolen in February 2025, and since then, the claims process has been nothing short of a nightmare. I have consistently complied with every request in a timely manner--submitting all necessary documentation, including police reports, photographs, communication with my property management, and even participating in a discussion with a private investigator--yet it still seems to be insufficient.
After being informed that my case required further investigation, I was told it would be referred to legal counsel for an Examination Under Oath. Not fully understanding what that entailed, I agreed to participate. The examination lasted over seven hours and was conducted in an aggressive and antagonistic manner. The attorney was argumentative, verbally confrontational, and appeared more interested in provoking me than gathering facts.
Even after this extensive session, additional documents continue to be requested--many of which appear unrelated to the actual claim. For example, after my vehicle was declared a total loss, I responsibly purchased another vehicle using my own funds a month later. Now I am being asked to provide documents regarding that purchase, which has no bearing on the theft or the claim being processed.
I've voiced my concerns to Wawanesa and its affiliates about the way I've been treated. Rather than being recognized and supported as a victim of theft, I feel I am being treated with suspicion, as if I've done something wrong. The ongoing delays and lack of resolution are unacceptable and reflect poor handling of my claim.
I intend to file a formal complaint with the Better Business Bureau to investigate this matter further. I have done my part--cooperating fully and exercising patience throughout this process. I now expect Wawanesa to fulfill its responsibility by resolving my claim in a fair and timely manner.

When they asked about the quotes I received elsewhere, I disclosed them, and the woman on the line laughed in a ridiculing way and told me that's not possible for 2 vehicles. Even though Wawanesa was previously charging me LESS than what the other company quoted me until they increased my price by 165%. No new drivers, no accidents, no tickets. There was one vehicle change due to miles with a moderate (below average) increase to miles. A coupe w/ no sports engine or any of that nonsense. I dropped them that same day. I want to add, I was pleased with them up until that moment and have been with them for many years. I expected a slight increase due to mile increase, however I cannot justify a 165% increase followed by rudeness. Sorry you're more expensive than your competitors.

Very furious and disappointed in this company. My car was stolen and I had filed a police report. I did everything I needed to do on my end and the investigator Richard Pavone decided to take his time in doing the investigation. The car was clearly stolen and vandalized but yet they have all these extra questions to ask. I have still been paying my car payment with no hesitation and have answered every question they asked as well as given them all documents they have needed. I have been nothing but understanding and cooperative. Now Richard Pavone has decided that they need more time in doing the investigation and has decided to give my file to Knapp and Spurlock (which by the way have bad reviews as well). So now it’s going to even take more time see what’s going to happen even though Richard Pavone has stated that my car has been deemed a total loss. Very upset with this company especially on how they work with their customers. As well as giving updates. My wife and I would have to email Richard first in order to get any type of update. If we did not message him we would not get any updates at all. Very disappointed in this company. I had spoken to a Lady at Knapp and Spurlock and they have yet to look at my file as well as apparently they need to set an appointment with me to ask more questions and receive more documents which I’ve already given to Wawanessa insurance. How am I suppose to get to their office which is far from me with no car. This whole process has been such an inconvenience.

If I could give them a 0 I would . I reported a hit and run claim , a few weeks ago . Waited for someone to call me back and to my surprise, they never submitted my claim. Glad I called the following Monday or I would still be waiting . Finally got Ann V . Provided witness information , police report , videos, pictures and license plate number. So, I did what I had to do to get this going smoothly . Welp, I haven’t heard back from her for status on the other parties insurance . My car is ready to be picked up and had to cough up my deductible plus rental fees , which the other party has insurance and should pay for . I contacted her manager Randy and nothing . This place has gone downhill and I would rather spend an extra couple of hundred dollars for better claim service . This is ridiculous . I work in the insurance industry & and my clients are my top priority .

I rarely leave reviews, but I feel compelled to share my frustrating experience with Wawanesa Insurance. While their premiums may be a bit cheaper than other providers, you truly get what you pay for—and not in a good way.
My vehicle was recently declared a total loss, and that's when the real problems began. Wawanesa uses extremely favorable evaluation criteria—favorable to them, not the customer. Their comparison vehicles were clearly cherry-picked to drive down the payout amount, with little consideration for actual market value or fair replacements. It felt like they were doing everything possible to minimize their responsibility.
To make matters worse, their customer service was anything but professional. Getting clear answers was a struggle, representatives seemed disinterested and dismissive, and I had to chase down basic updates that should have been proactively communicated. The lack of empathy or urgency during such a stressful time was incredibly disappointing.
On top of all that, the rental coverage was laughably inadequate for a totaled vehicle situation. The coverage ran out long before anything was resolved, leaving me scrambling without transportation during a critical period.
In short: Wawanesa may save you a few bucks on premiums upfront, but you’ll pay for it later when you actually need support. I would not recommend them to anyone looking for a dependable, customer-focused insurance provider. I’ve learned my lesson the hard way—don’t make the same mistake.

So mad at this company I went with them because they supposedly had the best customer service got an accident with my Tesla. It was 100%. The other driver’s fault they took liability. My car was a total loss. I called my insurance to ask what should I do And apparently they told me the wrong information and I got cheated out on the evaluation of my vehicle that was paid off I feel like I got shorted $1700 on the evaluation of it Sean the manager went back to hear my conversations with the adjuster and I was correct. They’re told me the wrong information therefore I was right with that said it doesn’t matter even if it’s the insurance fault they’re not gonna make it right they don’t care about the customer and to be honest Sean was a little rude the way he was talking to me. He said sorry we mess up and that’s all they are do for the customer just sorr. as soon as I can I am gonna change car insurance if any of you guys are thinking about signing up with them I would not they don’t care about the customer even though he said it was their fault and telling me the wrong information.

So extremely frustrating to deal with adjuster handling my auto claim. I don't know what happened to all the good and seasoned adjusters who knew what they were doing. I sincerely never want to have a claim for another 50 years...can't wait to change my home and auto policies
