I bought this Hartford insurance (AARP), the first quote was lower than what I was paying, BUT, the next 6 months went up $188, and the next went up $261(total in a year $449)! Not a discount for this senior, there were no accidents or claim's. I'm now happy with State Farm.

Took the driver course to lower my insurance which cost me 25.00. Age 59. No tickets or wrecks. Ok the full coverage on my 2012 Chrysler. 80.00, then the very next month jumped to 169.00
Ridiculous, I'm going elsewhere. They are Not cost friendly to seniors. So why is AARP even sending them my way?

This company is a total disaster. Disorganized, very disrespectful to customers, doesn't appear to care about following it's legal obligations in performing basic business functions. In my opinion, STAY AWAY, you will regret making this choice for maybe saving a few bucks.

They claim to be the best AARP Insurance, my first year my rates were great. The second year they raised my rates 50.00 more a month. I have a clean driving record, no accidents since 1989, No moving violations since 1992. When I asked them why my rates went up they informed me all insurance rates went up all over in Az. Well I got Progressive Insurance for less than my original rates with Hartford.
Now I am getting the runaround on a refund of 89.00 they keep telling me the check was cut and mailed out on the 10th of November 2023. I have received mail from family members in Naples Italy faster then I have been waiting to get my refund from Lexington, KY

I would rate this company a zero if it was an option. Ive had insurance since I’ve started driving and I’m 51 years old, have filed maybe 2 claims (17 years old est) during that period, none since current incident that I write about. My wife and myself were returning from dinner and ran over a large rock that a plumber left in the driveway when he was finished fixing a leak, mind you this occurred at night, the rock bent the bumper which was around 2k damage on our truck. Hartford paid approximately 1k and my part was around 1.2k because of the high deductible because of my driving record and to keep my expenses down. My policy is set to renew in Jan and Hartford raised my premiums almost 150% 2.2k a year to 5.4 k a year and was told it was because of the claim. Disputed the rate hike and was told that because the bucket of money has to be refilled because nobody fixes their own stuff nowadays, to which I responded they make it so you can’t fix your own stuff like back in the day. Very unprofessional folks that represent the company buyer beware. My thought AARP was supposed to help alleviate costs for older folks but a 150% increase indicates otherwise.

Had me use a rental because one of their drivers THEY insure rear ended me. They paid off my loan, but never told me when the rental was up. Come to find out I get a call from the rental car place saying my car was due 2 days ago. So I then got charged $93 out of pocket for having the car too long. Hartford didn’t want to return any of emails. Matthew wagoneer warned you guys 1 star

Contacted Hartford/AARP and was informed that they would not insure my 2021 Ram 3500 that I use for camping couldn't be insured. This is supposed to be insurance for AARP members, retired persons, a large portion that have recreational vehicles that are towed with pickup trucks, and Hartford won't insure them. AARP you've dropped the ball on this one. By the way Hartford/AARP won't insure my camper either even though I have not had any type of claim in many, many years, and have had a clear driving record for decades. AARP you're supposed to be advocating for retirees.
