Susan Longoreia of Alternative Claims Management made a fraudulent claim to my insurance company, whom paid out the amount requested. This amount was greater than four times the amount of the requested claim payout by the other party. The other party involved in this minor accident, the Dekalb County Sheriff’s Department in Atlanta, GA, also has been victimized by this fraud. They received payment in less than half of what ACM requested from my insurance company. No one returns my calls from ACM. Susan hung up on me. Her supervisor, Kathryn Davis, is non-responsive. I will be traveling to Texas for a lawsuit, if they do not return my calls and settle this matter asap. Shameful! They never expect to have an intelligent, curious individual, spend countless hours of her time, digging deep into this mess. I wonder how many times Susan and her supervisor have skimmed off the top of fraudulent claims they have made I hope Susan and Kathryn read this message. They should be fired immediately.

I could not be more pleased with my one and only interaction with this company -- specifically because of Jerry Shaw, the damage recovery rep I worked with.

A little background: After turning in a rental car for a recent vacation, a tiny chip in the windshield was detected, and the rental car company deemed me responsible. A few weeks later, my car insurance company contacted me, saying a claim had been made against my policy by Ace Rental Cars not only for a new windshield, but also extra fees for "loss of use" and "damage appraisal." I have a $1,000 comprehensive deductible, and my policy doesn't cover those fees, so my out-of-pocket cost was going to exceed $1,500 for this tiny windshield nick -- which I don't remember happening and which may have actually occurred before I rented the car.

Alternative Claims Management is a third party contracted by Ace Rental Cars to collect on these claims. I contacted Jerry Shaw, the one handling the claim against me, and not only was he extremely polite and understanding, he enlightened me about a little-known benefit about credit cards: When you use one to rent a car, it provides secondary insurance coverage on that rental vehicle. Jerry told me how to file the claim, which I've since done. It's quite possible that this secondary insurance will cover the $1,000 deductible and some of the other fees my own insurance wouldn't cover.

Because the rental car company's action of replacing the entire windshield and billing me for other fees seemed excessive -- especially for a possible pre-existing chip -- my first thought was to instruct my insurance company to deny the claim, and then let Ace Rental sue me. Based on this outcome, I'm glad I didn't!

They are awful humans, if they can evem be called human. I am the assisant to an attoeney, and my child is in ICU awaiting surgery. Jesse Boylan, their claim representative, would not accept the circumstances. That is the lack of integrity the company tolerates.
