We have lived in our house for less than two months and already had to talk to the management office and have maintenance out so many times for issues that should have been fixed before we moved in. Upon move in, the office informed me that they had had the carpets cleaned but there was a huge stain in the living room and they just didn't know how it got there. When we looked at it, it's just water spilled on the carpet that brought a ton of dirt to the surface. Our hot water heater closet was full of toxic black mold, which we are STILL fighting with bleach, and they have done nothing about. We got the dishwasher replaced, and when we pulled it out we found mouse droppings and nests, after telling management, they did nothing. The electric is a mess with mislabeled breakers, switches that don't work, and wires coming out of junction boxes. When we hooked up our washing machine, we discovered that the water valves coming out of the wall were leaking horribly, because they'd never checked the pipes and they were covered in hard water buildup and had to be replaced. Later, when we got a new dryer and hooked it up, we discovered that the gas line coming out of the wall wasn't even hooked up to anything, it is just an unconnected pipe sticking out of the wall. They refused to reconnect it so we were stuck with having to buy a second dryer that didn't require a gas hookup. Again, the gas should have been tested before we moved in, or they at least should have known that the pipe was not connected and told us before we bought our dryer. When we moved in, there were missing fence boards that we had been told would be replaced because we have two small dogs. No such luck, we had to replace them ourselves. Our closet had broken shelves and hanging rods that we had to replace ourselves before being able to hang up any of our clothes. I understand that this is an old house, but these things should have been checked or fixed before we moved in. We have been stuck fixing many things ourselves with our own time and money. One of the bedrooms facing the street had no blinds, which they did eventually replace but only after our room mate bought curtains so everyone passing by couldn't see into her bedroom. On several occasions, I called and left voicemails that were never returned. Often, when I am trying to work with the office to fix a problem, they take a while getting back to us, then call my fiance instead of me, and get all of the communication mixed up so no one knows what is happening. Our lease papers had incorrect information on them when we moved in, which we told them about and wasn't addressed for weeks. All in all, they're kind of a hot mess.
