I like this city market because they have some good Norwegian Salmon and lean steaks in the butcher shop that I can't find at other ones. Nice service too.

Parking is impossible, carts usually block the parking lot walkways, can't keep the basics in stock, stockers block the aisles and don't bother to try to get out of your way, bulk bins always empty and out of labels and pens. There are without fail ALWAYS some items on my list that they are out of. Last trip: Scouring powder, (any brand), unsweetened almond milk, frozen edamame, bulk oats. They carry a rye bread that comes to them frozen, and for months they can't seem to order it and keep it on the shelf. I ask the bakery guy each time I am there and he always says "Thursday" but it's never there Thursday. When he does get it he puts out a month supply at once so the loaves get moldy and old instead of taking some out of the freezer as they sell. If there is a sale on something you have to get there right away because they never order enough to keep sale items in stock as you can see from the photos. This company is so digitally driven with the discount cards and coupons that you would think they would use the data to know what people buy and to do a better job of keeping it in stock. They also seem to continually discontinue brands I like, I guess to limit their competition. These problems have been ongoing and I have complained to management. Things don't improve.

I just do not understand why the quality of this store has gone down so badly in recent years. Especially the pick up. It is frustrating that they moved the pick up from the side to the middle of the front parking lot, but from what I was told the higher up's had to have new shiny offices so they put them on the side and moved the pick up location. But aside from that, every time I do a pick up order the people who bring out the groceries are the worst. They get really mad when I don't get out of the car and bag the groceries for them. I am disabled and cannot do their job for them. But because they feel angry about bagging the groceries they do stupid stuff like put a bag of chips on the bottom of the bag and then pile heave bottles of juice on top so when I get home the chip bag is flat and usually busted with broken crumbs everywhere, or they will pile glass bottles all together in one bag and there is usually at least one bottle broken and liquid all in the bag or spilled out into my trunk all because they think I should do their jobs for them. If I was the manager I would be ashamed at how my employees treat customers.

They have everything you need if you're visiting Basalt. Fresh bread, lunch sandwiches, sushi,... Just like a Jewel or Kroger if you're from mid-west

City Market needs a review box at the front of all markets. Customer should be allowed to give you feedback on your staff. Those with good reviews should get a raise more then (.88c) and those with bad reviews should get pulled aside and talk to about making changes and if they don’t follow through they will be fired. You need better staff that know what they are doing and do what is being told. No standing around or being on their phones

Love the crew but they are remodeling and taking up a lot of the parking lot with pick up spots. Be ready to walk. The remodeling has left the store a mess. Expect it to continue for the next month. Shelves are not well stocked.

It’s just a city market, nothing exciting. However there is always lines because they closed half their self checkout.

Doesn’t seem to be any consistency between other city market locations and this one. Furthermore, every time I go to the deli, they’re always out of something. I haven’t been able to get potato wedges in months because they’re always out and they won’t make more for some reason. Also, I went there at 2p to get a nice hot meal for lunch and they didn’t have anything out! Their response was “in a half an hour we will put something out.”

Now I understand that this is not a Walmart franchise, but they could definitely learn something from that store. Every time I go into a Walmart their deli food is always ready to go and stocked, and if it’s not, I can ask for it and they’ll make it for me. No city market deli in the entire state of Colorado has ever accommodated me in that way when I ask. They just say “we don’t have anymore.”

There’s a reason why I try to stay away from city market if I can. But unfortunately, when I’m in Aspen/Glenn, I have no choice. Interesting local market monopoly going on there.
