Our sewer line failed, leaving us with a repair bill in the tens of thousands of dollars. When I contacted Nationwide, I was told I had no coverage for this—because my agent never informed me that sewer line coverage was even available.

This was a preventable financial disaster, and the agent’s failure to mention this coverage option demonstrates either a serious oversight, a lack of knowledge, or a disregard for their customer’s financial protection.

When I reached out to the agent for an explanation, I received no response whatsoever. This level of service is completely unacceptable, especially for a long-time customer who has maintained a perfect payment history.

If you value competence, professionalism, and courtesy, I’d recommend steering well clear of DC Insurers.

BAD BAD BAD, I AM CALLING THE NEWS TO COVER THIS.

The worst thieves I have ever dealt with. The positive reviews are fraudulent and placed by Veta herself. This is a fraudulent company that will steal from you, write you bad checks for refunds and ignore you. Please report this company!

Absolutely the worst insurance company I've ever had the displeasure of working with. From the very beginning I was treated like a number, not a person, through Allstate. I also never had a single phone call answered or a call back from our "local agent" who was DC Insurers.

Every type of insurance I tried to get, as well as anyone myself or my husband spoke to at Allstate, was all a horrible mess. Even our broker had a hard time communicating with these companies.

I have months worth of frustrations and interactions I could list but I'll save you some time and just warn you to avoid the massive headache that is Allstate insurance and/or DC Insurers and recommended you find a different insurance company. Both are terrible.

I'm not sure where to start. I absolutely hate writing bad reviews, mostly because bad reviews are so easy to avoid. Just act like you care and recognize that a recovered angry customer can be your biggest asset and strongest advocate. DC Insurers missed that lesson, so here we are.

A few months ago my DC agent, Tyler, reached out about receiving a cancellation notice on my policy for nonpayment. I mentioned to him that his assistant Ilena supposedly set up auto pay. After some back and forth they admitted that all the auto pay info was input to the system, but they 'forgot' to click the autopay button. Okay, mistakes happen, but I wasn't thrilled to have to pay 4 months of coverage to reinstate the policy. Ilena told me she'd speak to the underwriter and take 3 months' payment in the meantime. Well, a week later she was back looking for the fourth month. I called the underwriter and they had no record of her asking them to accept 3 months and reinstate the policy, even though Tyler had told me that the policy would be absolutely reinstated as soon as they processed the 3 month payment. According to the underwriter the policy was not reinstated for over a week after Tyler told me it would be.

Throughout the whole ordeal they really didn't care. I know it's a small policy and they probably don't make much money off of it, but at least act like you care when it's your mistake. I paid the fourth month and was told by Ilena that my next payment would be 'in January.' Fast forward to today, January 6, and she emails me a cancellation notice due to a failed payment on Dec. 22. Hm? Next payment was supposed to be 'in January' and I have her email to prove her saying this. Her response was 'sorry I should've worded that as payment in December for January.' Yeah, no kidding. So now they wanted 2 months' payment to reinstate the policy again. Absolutely no contact from my agent Tyler on this second issues. Even worse is that he acknowledged receipt of these papers on Monday (they have a stamped receipt date and his signature) and waited until Friday afternoon to have his assistant reach out to me. Out of all the agencies I reached out to via their online contact forms, DC was the best at initial contact. They had the best website and their first impression was strong. It's now clear that their model is basically to write as many policies as possible because their customer service is absolutely abysmal and they're unlikely to retain many customers. Insurance is the kind of thing where I probably would've been with them for 20 years and never had a reason to change. Oh well.

Truly the absolute worst experience I've had in quite some time.

Outrageously immature. I let agent Chris Cudney know that we had chosen another agent and needed him to fill out the form waiving the 10 day waiting period to switch the Pinnacol WC quote to another agent, and he told me he'd never heard of that (really? It's standard for carriers to only give 1 quote for a company and then 10 days or a waiver) and then HUNG UP ON ME. I'm not kidding. I called him back 3 or 4 times and he wouldn't answer my calls. Never did I think that could happen with a professional agent.

Sorry I had to click one star. They aren't worth that. I had a claim that was for $50,000. It turns out that our policy only covered $15,000 but we could have also had, FOR NO ADDITIONAL PREMIUM, coverage for $50,000! They apologized (wahoo) and said they'd have a salesman come over and go through the policy. No one ever showed.
A year or two later we had a claim (water damage) that was not covered. I called DC to ask why and was told I would receive a call back. The call was never reurned. I later called and asked that the head honcho (Jon) call back to explain why we did not have coverage, and to set up a time to review what coverage we DID have but he never called. His office assistant did say she'd look into it. I never heard back from anyone. The insurance company covered all that was on the policy. But the brokers - DC Insurers are a joke.
