We used First Rate at the recommendation of our Realtor, and the experience was great. After a pretty length online application, I received a phone call from the broker the next morning, and he went over the rates, terms, etc., and gave us our conditional approval. When that deal fell through, we found a new house and received a fast conditional approval, and less than 30 days later we are living in the house.

The online portal made submitting documents fast and easy, and whenever I had a question the staff was very friendly and willing to help.

We have been overwhelmingly happy with their service and communication throughout the process. Going through this process during Covid could have been awful but Nicolle at First Rate was amazing. They sent us a video explaining the process and if it was worth it to refinance. They would send us an email every week explaining where they were in the process even if there was nothing new to report. They laid out what to expect and how long the process would take. I would completely recommend them. We could have gone with any bank to refinance but the customer service we received, the amazing communication and attention to detail would not have been given at a bank. They make you feel like your loan is the only one they are working on. The weird part is I have never met any of them in person but feel like I know them all so well.
