I'm a victim of this agency's fraudulent business practices also. When the Veteran’s Administration started looking into my case, they discovered that this corporation was sending bills to an address in Virginia that has no connection with me. Absolutely garbage, dropped my credit score by 60 points!!! I never lived anywhere near there, and a simple soft credit pull would have shown that. GMA's business practices are purposefully using laws that protect corporations to exploit people. Being a veteran, it's frustrating to reconcile the sacrifices my battle buddies and I made during foreign wars to return home and experience the same behavior from my fellow citizens that we fought against abroad. Luckily, I have a strong support network, and hope that this corporate greed will not impact my employment.

This company is attempting to scam consumers by committing insurance fraud. Per my insurance I do not owe that provider based on the doctor's contract. I have never received a bill from this provider. An insurance representative has reached out to let Grant Mercantile know that I do not owe anything. At this point, I have reported them to the California Attorney General, California's insurance commission, and the BBB. Next, I'm contacting the credit bureaus to blemish off of my report.

So I owe $376 to a X-ray place for my surgery that I got 3-4 years ago. I didn’t even know about the debt until half a year ago. They never called or sent me anything. I only found out because I got credit karma. I called and they said I could only pay by check. Then the price went up on what the next month. Then they said that they never received a check and I should pay online. Then I said why didn’t you say that last time. Then I pay the $25 online. And I only had maybe $60 in my bank. Then somehow I’m overdrawn by $15 the next couple of days. They took the full amount instead of the $25 payment. And because it bounced the bank charged me $75. Then I spent hours on the phone with GMA trying to fix the issue and then the wouldn’t even listen to me like it was my fault. It was so frustrating that I dropped it for a couple of months thinking it would be better to pay the whole amount when I got my tax refund. Now they are charging me $1000 on top of the $376 fee that I owe to someone else. Needless to say. I’m going to sue if they don’t drop that fee.

They are very helpful. Something was affecting my credit, even though I had fixed the issue a couple weeks prior. They wrote a letter for me to show that this was an error and explained to me exactly how to fix it with the credit bureau. Both ladies that I have spoke to are very polite.

Their service was beyond terrible. I was sent a letter that falsely claimed that I had a medical bill that was delinquent. I was unaware of said bill because it was sent to an incorrect address in the first place. Then, when they sent multiple follow up bills, I didn't receive them either because they were getting sent to that wrong address as well. The hospital from which I received treatment, admitted to sending it to the wrong address. When I explained this to GMA, and informed them I wasn't trying to get out of paying the bill--just the interest that was incorrectly added to my bill--they said no. Their exact words were "we don't waive interest." The amount was minimal--$13, I think. I did nothing wrong and was not at fault for this clerical error. I was not going to pay interest on a bill that was never properly sent to me. I asked to speak to a supervisor and was put on hold--undoubtedly so the agent could speak to her supervisor about the situation. She came back on the phone and told me her supervisor said she would waive half of the interest. I said thank you, but no thank you. I wouldn't accept anything less than a complete waive of the interest. Again, I asked to speak to the supervisor...who I hadn't even spoken to yet. She finally came on the line and I had to re-explain everything to her. She also told me that they don't waive interest. I said "you've already agreed to waive half, so that means you DO waive interest." I was furious that this was such a battle but I wasn't going to pay interest on a bill that was delinquent through no fault of my own. We went back and forth for quite a while. She eventually said "I'm not waiving the interest. We can continue to go around and around on this, but I'm not going to do it." I got off the phone with her and filed a complaint with the CFPB--Consumer Financial Protection Bureau. They reviewed my case and contacted GMA. GMA responded by waiving the interest. Again, I was never trying to get out of paying my initial bill. However, it was never sent to me so I felt I shouldn't be penalized for it. The hospital sent it to the wrong address. Further, since I was being sent to a collections agency, failure to pay could adversely affect my credit--again, through no fault of my own. I'm tired of large companies being able to take advantage of the little guy.

Do not accept the status quo. If they are wrong, fight it and do not let them take advantage of you.

These people are incompetent. I did have a legitimate bill that was overlooked (my bad), and it was sent to Grant Mercantile. It showed up on my credit a few months later. I asked them why I never received anything from them before it ruined my credit. They said they did. I asked them where they sent it. They told me the address it was sent to. It was the right street address, but they put the wrong city and zip code. Their fault. I paid it but it is still on my credit report a month later. They should have removed it immediately since they screwed up. I'm still waiting for these morons to fix their error while my credit is messed up.

The business is idiotic and does not appear to follow any reasoning or law for that matter. Adventa, their Senior Manager tells me I owe a bill from 08/2011 today for water and trash for a house that I had not owned for 6 months. Despite the fact, I also told her I file Bankruptcy and discharged 4/2011. ADVENTA said she will file it as a dispute and still report it to my credit.

RUDE, UN-KNOWLEDGEABLE & POTENTIAL LIABILITY RISK !!!!!!!!!! I have dealt with idiots in my life but none more then today !!
