A Lesson Learned – Don’t Deal with Insurance Without a Public Adjuster!

I made the mistake of trusting my contractor to handle my insurance claim instead of working with a public adjuster. It turned out to be a disaster. The contractor was slow, dishonest, and shady, and to make matters worse, the insurance company dragged their feet, ignored my calls for weeks, and delayed the entire process.

Things got even worse when the contractor put a lien on my home because the insurance company wouldn’t pay. At that point, I reached out to Tom, and he gave me straightforward advice on how to handle both the contractor and the insurance company. He told me exactly what to say to get them moving and recommended working with a local public adjuster if things didn’t improve quickly.

Sure enough, after following his advice, the insurance company finally paid up, the contractor removed the lien, and I learned a valuable lesson—if you have an insurance claim, the first thing you should do is call a public adjuster. Don’t make the same mistake I did!

My experience with Tom Cannon and team was very positive. Tom is a knowledgeable professional who is willing to work hard and someone I would recommend to my friends and family. I learned from this process your insurance company does NOT have your best interested when it comes to processing a claim. They are in the business to collect your premiums. When I had experience storm damage and I reported it, I spend money out of my pocket. Since it was only a few hundred dollar to get my roof patched up the insurance company told me it was less then my deductible so they can’t do anything. I was not even initially aware that this type of service existed when a pipe in my spare bath tub developed a leak and flooded my kitchen.

After getting a quick settlement check from my insurance company (whicrh did not cover my expenses to get the phpe fixed), I was referred to Home Damage Adjustment by a contractor who had done some work for me prevuously.

I had an initial meeting with Tom Cannon and then began working with an adjuster named Bill Jacot. From.then on, Bill handled all interfacing with the insurance company. I only had to make the house available for visits between Bill and the insurance adjuster as needed.

It took a few months but Bill got me a settlement that covered all of my plumbing expenses with some leftover to put in the bank.
