I'm not sure there is such a thing as a good insurance agent, but if there is, I'm still looking for them. I only used IMA because my co-tenant/landlord used them, and I was looking to get coverage quickly. I decided to shop around for other coverage after a year, and when I sent the policy to another agent for comparison, they discovered that the policy had been for a building 3 hours from the one it was supposed to cover. Of course, IMA blamed the insurance company, and promised to remedy the issue. Their remedy: an explanation from the insurance company that they would HONOR the policy for the building it was supposed to be for, i.e. keep all the money I paid in premiums without a claim rather than refund me. You think they would have paid out for a claim if there had been an accident or damage to the building? I sincerely doubt it. The coup de grace was the IMA agent's parting explanation, that "we are all human." Yes, we are all human and make mistakes. However, those with integrity own up for their mistakes instead of trying to cover for them. If you're looking for integrity, look elsewhere.
