I want to highly commend Lewis and Lewis Mexican Insurance Company for their excellent personalized service. I’ve just renewed with them for the 23rd year, and their agent Osman lived up to the company’s high standards by his helpfulness, including sending me my documents both as hard copy by mail and by email. When a hurricane damaged my car while in summer storage in Mexico about 15 years ago, the company was prompt in assessing the damage and sending me photos of it. The repairs cost within a few dollars of their estimate and they paid me right away, even accepting the receipt written by hand on a page torn out of a school notebook by the local Mexican worker who did the repairs for me. The company deserves the good reputation that it’s had for many years amongst my fellow Canadians and Americans who use their cars in Mexico each year. Chris Bradley, BC

This has been the worst and most difficult insurance experience I have ever had. I moved to Mexico for a year and got into an accident- Lewis and Lewis is horrible when filing a claim. Initially, I called the office multiple times only to be told that Jordan was not in, so I was advised to send an email. I had to email multiple times before getting a response. It took about 3 weeks for there to finally be some movement in the claiming process. When I finally reached out about the settlement, I was told it had already been sent to me. When I was forwarded the original email, my email address was not one to which the settlement was sent. All in all it was just a pain to deal with. I ended up going over 2 months without a car. People did not help, and I had to stay on everyone to keep my case going. Eventually it was just easier to handle it myself with the help of friends I had locally in Mexico. Lewis and Lewis advertises that they will advocate for you to the Mexican insurance companies but that’s truly not the case. Seriously save yourself the trouble and go with any other insurance company if you’re driving to Mexico on a tourist visa.

We have been using Lewis & Lewis Insurance for over 6 years and have always had a very positive experience dealing with them. Every agent we have dealt with has been very helpful and professional. The last agent I dealt with, Osman Melgar, was very knowledgable and extremely patient in answering my many questions. Thanks Osman for your prompt replies and attention to my needs.

Original review: This company sold car insurance to me from Qualitas. I was in a hit and run while in Mexico. I suffered a spinal injury and my car was significantly damaged. The insurance company only covered the body work and left me paying for all the mechanical repairs from the auto shop they sent me to. My car has never worked properly since. They also haven't covered any medical treatment for my injury. Since I returned to Canada, I've been unable to get any help though the Qualitas contact provided by Lewis and Lewis, and they won't respond to my emails either.

I had a one year insurance for my campervan in Mexico and just extended by another six months.
In the first year I had one claim, which was settled in my favour. It took quite a long time, due to the local contractor in Mexico, but once I involved Lewis and Lewis things got done.
All staff are very friendly, helpful and knowledgeable.

For years I've use Lewis and Lewis for my Mexican Auto Insurance. They have always been responsive, reasonably priced and available. While I haven't tested their insurance (no accidents) I will feel comfortable when and if that happens. My most recent communications with Osman have been tip top and honest.
