Had an RLI umbrella policy for one day, couldn’t cancel previous umbrella without impacting auto and home insurance policies and didn’t know that till after trying to convert to RLI policy. RLI charged me 10% of new umbrella policy and a pro-rate fee of one day, total charge of $73 deducted from full year premium I paid up front. I elevated to supervisor who said it was policy and nothing they could do. So RLI won’t get any of my future business and hopefully this will be warming to anyone thinking about an RLI policy. Doesn’t seem like good business to insist on keeping $73 and alienate a potential customer which could bring in substantially more funds through future business. Buyer beware!
