I am writing this review as homeowners who have suffered losses from the Jan 2025 Los Angeles fires start looking for insurance adjusters.

My insurance company assigned SGD as adjusters to my claim in October 2019, after my house was damaged by the Getty fire. Our adjuster was experienced and generally reasonable, and he visited the house perhaps 4 times altogether. He showed some unexplainable aversion to authorizing repairs on our pool, which was drained after the fire and full of ash. He would not let ServiceMaster, whom we had hired to carry out the house repairs, also repair the pool. After 2 years in that empty state, the entire pool had to be rebuilt. The tiles in it were no longer in production, so we settled for an inferior replacement. We paid out of pocket and sought reimbursement from insurance.

This first adjuster was going through personal troubles, and left the company. A second adjuster was assigned, who turned out to be a complete disaster. She never once visited the house although repairs were in progress. She didn't respond to phone messages or emails. After many months, when I sent a letter of complaint by certified mail to the VP of the company in charge of adjusters, she hadn't even opened my letter when I contacted her by guessing her email address.

Finally, I went to my insurance company (Evanston) and asked them to replace or eliminate SGD from the process because it is a dysfunctional company. They assigned one of their own people to our claim, and in one action he settled payments that had been outstanding for 9 months or longer.
SGD Southern California is a dysfunctional company from executives to adjusters.

For homeowners in distress today, SGD will add to your worries.

FRAUD ALERT! Got a letter saying I owe AT&T money. I contacted AT&T and they said no such balance existed. So I threw away the letter. A year later I get a second request. The crazy part is they describe what happened and the location of where my Internet was cut to a t. Again, I called AT&T and no such balance exists. FRAUD! Watch out people. Getting crazy out there.

I’ve had the same issue described in the previous reviews. They have been sending me letters claiming that they are collecting money owed to AT&T. I called AT&T today and they confirmed that I don’t owe them any money and that this sounded like a scam.

Received a letter for payment of damages for a company I do business with. Called said company who searched their system and let me know they see NO such claim. Said company followed up with verbal and written communication backing this up. Is SG&D running a fraud? Not a big review person but feel people should be on guard against potential scams. Asked SG&D to call me back and explain themselves.

If you are considering doing any business with this company RUN.
My father was hit by a bus while driving on the freeway. These con artists are dragging their feet, claiming they can't verify who was driving the bus when we have photographic proof of who hit my dad. Keep in mind, my dad is a United States Veteran. He is in his 60s and this shameful company is withholding thousands of dollars in damages owed to him. Schifrin, Gagnon and Dickey: shame on you all for giving a Veteran such a hard time when he was the VICTIM.
Please spread the word and avoid these unethical people at all costs. I will be telling anyone and everyone that I can about the heartless practices of this shady company Schifrin, Gagnon and Dickey.
