My family’s vacation home, down in Florida, was devastated by Hurricane Dorian. We had our insurance company’s adjuster come out to assess the damage and bring our home back to pre-storm condition. Atleast that’s what we thought they’d do.

As a contractor, I am very familiar with the costs associated to build and repair homes. I took a quick look at the insurance companies total offer for repairs, and knew right away that there was a large difference between that and what the actual costs involved would be.

After an exhausting back and forth dispute with the insurance company, I wanted to throw in the towel. They weren’t even coming close, I’m talking $30,000 different from my figure. Hurricane Michael destroyed alot of my area (850) including my personal property. Just like many other people my insurance company low balled me barely giving me enough to put a roof on.
