The claims adjuster in the Lincoln office refuses to acknowledge email or calls. Gary Merritt is a ghost. This is one way they get away without paying claims for their insured and a completely unprofessional example of Shelter Insurance customer service. Will make sure everyone is aware of the shady way this company handles their business. Remember, insurance companies work for us. We pay huge premiums, they help when tragedy strikes. That’s how it supposed to work. Don’t let them get away with their terrible behavior any longer!

The adjustors Gary Merritt couldn't handle my case and cursed at me when I asked to be transferred to someone who could help me. Took 4 to 5 days to return emails and I had to get his supervisor involved. P.o.s.

Shelter Insurance is a shady business. One of their insured rear ended my vehicle. My passenger and I had to go to the emergency room as a result of the accident. Shelter paid to fix my vehicle and agreed to take care of the hospital expenses. I received a collection notice from a company from the bill from the hospital because of the wreck (Almost two years later). When I contacted Shelter to settle it, they said they weren’t responsible because of the date the hospital billed them. It was a month after they asked us to sign a release in 2018. I hadn’t revived any bills and my car was fixed, so I thought that anything up to that point would be covered. WRONG! Shelter did not cover our hospital expenses as a direct result of the accident they had claimed responsibility for. Shady business. My insurance company (State Farm) is covering the expenses for me. Shelter Insurance is a low class company and I do not recommend, in any way, doing business with them. Shelter Insurance sucks.

One of their insured backed into my vehicle. The claims specialist took almost 3 weeks to process my claim even though I had a body shop estimate the same day of the accident and the damage was mild. I'm sure it took lower priority because it was all cosmetic nothing mechanical was wrong, worse over I caught attitude from the claims specialist for asking for an update after having been promised to be called back and never was (she was adamant this has happened to her before and she doesn't promise a timeline of calling people back now) part of my claim was a rental car setup through a company 30 miles away from me, the company cannot deliver said rental to me, but they can come pick me up and process the rental at their site 30 miles away, but it's my dime to get the car back to my town and then back to the return site for the rental (no one cares about my incurred cost to me evidenced by the failure to return my call from the claims specialist when asked to cover those incurred costs of the rental) not a clue why I, the victim of the damage, am having to put in money and time to get my car fixed.
