I was at the office for almost 2 hours yesterday because I have still not received my financial aid. They assured me multiple times I would get the email about it either yesterday or today. Shockingly, I still have not received the option to accept my package. I still do not have my aid and it is NOVEMBER. Even better, I can't enroll for the next upcoming quarter because I have a massive bill I cannot pay. Where is my aid

Every single quarter, without fail I need to constantly be emailing, calling, etc just to get my financial aid.

They act like it comes out of their own pocket, and that you need to “prove” you are worthy of it being disbursed on time.

It is concerning that it is about to be 2 weeks into the quarter and still no word on financial aid. The fact that freshman starting this quarter do NOT even having a Financial Aid package in itself brings up so many questions.

Zoom meetings, take over 30 minutes to even be answered, where they will give you a snarky “what do you want?” Meanwhile, to call you better call the second the office opens otherwise you will not get an answer if the machine doesn’t hang up on you. Called yesterday the second it opened, and it took over 1 hour, 30 minutes just to be told “oh it’ll happen tomorrow.”

Spoiler alert, it is now tomorrow and still no disbursed aid.

Several of the financial aid people have spent a great deal of time on multiple phone calls trying to help with paperwork questions, with patience consideration and compassion. They really seem to have the students backs and want to help them. The fafsa delays have made their workload insurmountable and dealing likely with many frustrated parents and students. Nonetheless they have treated me as though myself and son are unique individuals and with nothing other than kindness patience and compassion. I hope people calling them for help will do the same.

Delay to distribute financial aid package, grossly inefficient work efficiency and attitude, unable to give clear answers to all questions. One of the trash offices at ucsc.

I can’t even wait on the line and I keep getting hung up on. I’ve called many times within these past few months and still don’t have my official financial aid, this is ridiculous.

Super slow service and always mentioning issues with handing me my scholarships and financial aid. Pretty sure some money laundering is involved with them as well.

I would give this place zero stars if I could. One star implies that there is something, no matter how small redeeming about this place and the awful human beings who work here but that’s not true. They delay money, will refuse to give you grant money that FAFSA gave you. I am 100% that there is some sort of money laundering or financial abuse going on here by the admin and upper level management because they have delayed every single financial aid award of mine, and have taken some money out of each disbursement. I have kept meticulous records of how my financial aid was applied to bills, and when pointing out discrepancies such at the fact that amounts of up to $5,000 dollars have disappeared without notice, they become rude and extremely patronizing, and yet somehow can never explain to me where this missing money has gone. Talking to other undergrads has led me to realize that I am not the only one with this problem. These people are liars and thieves with no marketable skills.
How they manage to keep their jobs while so many of us struggle is a mystery. I fully expect to wake up one day years after I have graduated and read a breaking news story about corruption and money laundering at UCSC amongst the people who work in this office. They are extremely shady and can’t be trusted for anything. Expect money to disappear and not be reflected on your bills.

i just went in today to clear up an issue with a payment i’ve been having that’s affecting my enrollment. they proceeded to tell me two things: that the issue with the payment was because they were having issues with the scholarship in question, and that any issues im having are my fault. they continued to be so unbelievably rude and condescending after this. they actively know that students are struggling and come
to them for support, and use that to demean them and make them feel awful for being confused about issues that they purposefully make more confusing to exploit and reel as much money as they can from broke college students. and i’m not the only one who’s experienced this kind of treatment, just look at the other reviews. god i hate this school.
