These days most companies do not have agents. You want an agent if you can get a good one. It doesn't cost you a penny extra and you get personalized direct service. Archer Agency is the best I have ever had and I have been a homeowner and landlord many times over for 45 years. I only found them three years ago. Don't be fooled by commercials on TV.
